<h2>A longtime resident of Inglewood and a mother of two, Dionne Faulk puts her experience and skills to work on behalf of Inglewood residents.</h2><h3>In November 2020, Dionne was elected to represent Inglewood's 4th City Council District and&nbsp;became the first African American woman and the second woman to ever serve on the Council.&nbsp;</h3>During her first term, Dionne focused on ensuring families had access to vaccines and resources during the COVID-19 pandemic, attracting new businesses, and creating new housing opportunities. She worked collaboratively with the board and administrator to get our schools back on track by pushing to improve school facilities and increase academic achievement.Before her election to the school board, Dionne was a Measure GG Citizens' oversight committee member. She oversaw the $90 million bond to fund new construction and modernization of Inglewood's schools. As a member of this committee and a stakeholder, Dionne held the Inglewood Unified School District accountable for the budget. She served as a delegate to the California Democratic Party and actively fought for progressive causes. One of Dionne's first opportunities to serve her community was when L.A. County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite-Burke appointed her to the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs Advisory Commission.She also served on the California State Employee Association (SEIU 1000) Foundation Board, where they award scholarships to deserving college students, and as a Regional Representative for the Association of California State Supervisors Union.Dionne is a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and served as a recent past President of the Los Angeles Silhouettes of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. She also volunteers her time with Jack and Jill of America, Inc. She is a Los Angeles African-American Women's Public Policy Institute member.Dionne graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills, with a BA in Economics and a minor in Political Science. Councilmember Faulk's Record of Service

<ul><li>The encampments on the 105 Freeway off ramps at Prairie Street and under the 105 posed both a public safety concern and health risk. Councilmember Faulk took action and worked with CalTrans and Los Angeles County to remove the encampments and while also helping people find housing.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Councilmember Faulk also took action to stop homeless individuals who were squatting in homes and using those neighborhoods to sell drugs and prostitution. She marshaled city agencies and resources to help residents and families take back ownership of the homes thereby removing dangerous activity from those neighborhoods.&nbsp;</li><li>She increased the capacity for city outreach to tackle our homelessness crisis. Her office led and organized neighborhood meetings with Inglewood residents and businesses to better connect them with city resources and programs to help them navigate challenges around homelessness.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Councilmember Faulk also led efforts to send community homeless liaisons into neighborhoods to help homeless individuals and families access the housing they needed.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>

The Homelessness&nbsp;&nbsp;Crisis

<ul><li>Councilmember Faulk fulfilled her commitment to deliver much needed relief, support, and solutions for Inglewood small business impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. She helped lead the implementation of the Champions Grant Initiative which has proudly granted over $2,000,000 to more than 100 local businesses and nonprofit organizations.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Councilmember Faulk's office started the Small Business Pop Ups campaign that spotlights and promotes local businesses through social media and community outreach. </li></ul>

<ul><li>Councilmember Faulk fought for solutions to help make neighborhoods safer for families and our kids. She worked with the Inglewood Police Department to monitor social media to stop illegal street and donut races before they occurred. Her leadership also helped secure and place more full time officers on the beat who are dedicated to preventing reckless driving activity and speeding. </li><li>Councilmember Faulk's office also invested in neighborhood safety by upgrading signs and crosswalks with highlighted technology and special paint. She also helped secure new flashing red lights which reduce speeding while still allowing our emergency vehicles to access neighborhoods quickly.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Councilmember Faulk organizes the annual City of Inglewood Music Festival, 'Women Rock' Women’s Conference, and A Winter Wonderland and brings Inglewood residents and vendors together in celebration while also supporting the local economy.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Councilmember Faulk supports Inglewood's youth and young adults by organizing toy drives, Thanksgiving turkey giveaways, and working with non-profits to provide food and clothing to needy families during the holidays.&nbsp;</li></ul>
